Memphis Premium Roofing provides professional commercial roofing in Memphis, TN for residential and commercial properties across the Mid-South. Memphis is a distribution city and its big buildings show it. Concrete tilt-up walls, steel joists, a steel deck roof, and a lot of square footage. On those buildings the deck is not just a surface for a membrane. It is the diaphragm holding the walls upright.
A federal cost study designed a Memphis tilt-up retail building three separate ways and published the numbers. The seismic out-of-plane wall anchorage force came out at 42 pounds per square foot against 27 for factored wind. Seismic governed, and satisfying it required stronger anchors at the joist connections, continuous crossties across the building, subdiaphragm regions deep enough to meet a five-to-two ratio, and heavier deck attachment in the bays next to the walls.
Read that last item again, because it is a roofing item. The deck fastening in the perimeter bays of a Memphis tilt-up is structure. Cutting it for a new drain, a new curb or an equipment opening is not a roofing change with a structural footnote, it is a structural change being performed by a roofing crew.
So our commercial scope names the deck before it names the membrane. We photograph the perimeter bays, we log the crossties and blocking we can see, and any new penetration inside a subdiaphragm region goes to the engineer of record before a saw comes out of the truck. That costs a few days at the front of a project and it has never once cost more than the alternative.
The systems themselves are the usual and we install all of them. Sixty and eighty mil TPO mechanically attached or induction welded, fully adhered EPDM, two-ply SBS modified bitumen where repairability matters, tapered polyiso to fix drainage that was designed wrong in 1978, and walkway pads laid along the routes the mechanical trades actually use, so they stop wearing through the field. Warranties follow the assembly, so we submit the whole system rather than the membrane alone.
The economics are the part owners find surprising. That same study put the total building cost premium for the full seismic detailing at roughly half a percent. Doing this correctly is not the expensive part of a Memphis reroof. Finding out afterwards that somebody cut a crosstie for a curb is the expensive part. Nobody enjoys the engineer's phone call and everybody prefers it to the other one.
Our licensed and insured team brings the right materials and equipment to every job — two 3/16-inch by 1-inch chimney anchor straps at the roof line, twelve-inch strap embedment into a masonry chimney, roof-deck subdiaphragm crossties in the perimeter bays, parapet height-to-thickness bracing ratio, wall anchors at six-foot maximum spacing, out-of-plane wall anchorage at 42 pounds per square foot — and backs the work with a written workmanship warranty. We serve Memphis and nearby communities including Bartlett, Collierville, Germantown, Millington.

Materials, equipment and how we do commercial roofing
The difference between commercial roofing that lasts and commercial roofing that gets redone in three years is almost always preparation and materials, not the finish you see on day one. We work with two 3/16-inch by 1-inch chimney anchor straps at the roof line, twelve-inch strap embedment into a masonry chimney, roof-deck subdiaphragm crossties in the perimeter bays, parapet height-to-thickness bracing ratio, spec them to the job instead of to the invoice, and write the material grades into the free estimate so you know exactly what you are buying.
Every Memphis job runs the same way: site walk and measurements, written scope and fixed price, protection of the surrounding area, then the work itself with a daily clean-up. Years of roofing work in the Mid-South means we have already met whatever your property is going to throw at us — awkward access, older construction, an HOA with opinions.

Why Memphis Chooses Memphis Premium Roofing
- ✓Every proposal states the new covering's dead load in pounds per square foot next to the load of whatever comes off, because Shelby County is a Seismic Design Category D jurisdiction and weight is not a decorative question here.
- ✓Our inspection report includes the chimney's anchorage at the roof line, the parapet's unbraced height and the deck fastening where it meets masonry, three findings that are almost never on a Memphis roof report.
- ✓We tear off rather than overlay, because a tear-off is the only hour in which the chimney straps, the deck fastening and the top of the wall are all visible at the same time.
- ✓We turn down tile on existing stick-framed houses unless a Tennessee-licensed structural engineer has written down what the framing can carry, and we will help you find that engineer.
The standards behind commercial roofing
Quality here is not a matter of opinion — it is written down. The commercial roofing work we do in Memphis follows published industry standards: NRCA publishes the Roofing Manual, the industry's reference for details and slope minimums, and Asphalt Roofing Manufacturers Association sets the shingle application and ventilation guidance the warranties reference. If a contractor cannot tell you which standard a detail comes from, that is worth asking about before you sign.
Every commercial roofing project in Memphis gets the same attention, whether it is a single room or a full commercial job. We show up on schedule, keep the site clean, and stand behind the work — the estimate is free and there is no pressure.
